Communication Theories
In this communication theory course, I learned about various theories from the communication discipline and related them to examples in the real world. The different theoretical concepts and applications I learned in this class gave me a new perspective on how to understand people and how to understand myself. I was able to develop skills that allow me to understand more about the different ways people communicate in a variety of settings which is a very important skill in work or team environments. This class taught me how to understand people and how to understand myself. With the different applications taught, I was able to learn how to assess people differently and learn not to judge so quickly. Once you really dive into the different theories, you really learn that human communication is much more complex than it may seem.
Introduction to TV Production
This class gave me a general understanding of the production side of TV. The class allowed me to understand how to be a woman in the entertainment industry. Due to the amount of hats a student wears taking this class, allowed me the opportunities too direct, produce, edit, and make a ton of mistakes. All the lessons I have learned I still use to this day. Specifically, how to tell a story to consumers, which is a useful skill in a variety of environments. I also learned how to productively communicate with the people I was working with, despite a broad range of conflicting personalities.
